Caramel Brownies

These rich and wonderful brownies come from Eric Michaelis, with whom I worked at Spillman Data Systems when I first graduated from college.
Mix together
1 German chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup melted margarine
Press 1/2 of dough into 9x13x2-inch pan and bake at 350 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Melt together over low heat
50 caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk

Sprinkle 1 cup milk chocolate chips over top of crust. Spread caramel sauce over chips, and then crumble remaining dough over top. Bake an additional 15-18 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before cutting.
