Cinnamon Crown Cake

This is a cross between a coffee cake and a pound cake. Either way, it’s delicious. We often have this on Christmas morning.

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup milk
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup applesauce
  1. Generously grease and flour a bundt cake pan. In large bowl, combine first set of ingredients (flour through vanilla). Blend 3 minutes at medium speed of mixer. Spoon half of butter into pan.
  2. Into the other half of the batter, stir the second set of ingredients (nuts through applesauce) and spoon over batter in pan.
  3. Bake at 350 for 55 minutes or til toothpick comes out clean. Cool upright in pan 30 minutes, then remove.
