Everybody's Hungry Soup

This recipe is adapted from Fix-It and Forget-It Recipes for Entertaining. Makes 10-12 servings. I generally use all pork instead of half beef/half pork.

3 thick slices bacon
1 pound beef stewing meat, cubed
1 pound boneless pork, cubed
2 cans diced tomatoes (or rotel tomatoes and green chilis)
1 celery rib, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
Garlic to taste
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 cup water
3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 pound carrots, sliced
1 can sweet corn, drained
1 pound cut up okra (optional)
  1. Fry bacon in skillet until crisp. Remove bacon but reserve drippings. Crumble bacon.
  2. Brown stew beef and pork in bacon drippings.
  3. Combine all ingredients and put in slow cooker.
  4. Cover. Cook on low 8 – 10 hours
