From my 1987 summer spent at Rainbow King Lodge in Iliamna, Alaska. The cookies were a signature treat at the lodge, and the staff was forbidden to eat them…so of course I stole a lot of them from the freezer and gained a few pounds! The dough is divine, by the way, and if you use eggbeaters instead of eggs, you don’t have the worry factor that comes with consuming raw eggs.
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups shortening (can use part or all butter instead)
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 plus 4 cups flour
2 cups choc chips
1. Cream sugar and shortening
2. Add vanilla, eggs, salt, soda, and 1/2 cup flour. Mix well.
3. Add chocolate chips.
4. Add remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough is not gooey.
5. 10 minutes @ 350.
